Emotional Connection

How to fill the audience’s imagination with a sense of where your character is in your physical environment. Build a world on minimal props, and how to develop a detailed visceral imagination of your character’s world. This work is fundamental to creating a natural environment when there is no set provided.

Open up your physical acting, identify and challenge your own physical habits and connect deeply with characters in ways we often never have imagined. Classes explore Body Alignment, Status, Physical Character Work, Neutral Mask, Comedia dell’Arte and Scene Work. This course is designed to explore character and challenge the physical limits of the actor. Participants are offered opportunities to identify types that may be physically difficult or confronting and find ways to explore them.

Shakespeare’s characters were not designed to be forgettable! A high-energy, physically engaging workshop to drive brave performance, depth and boldness of physicality and vocal character. Create impulsive behaviour that surprises yourself and your audience.

Making people laugh isn’t just the icing on the cake, it’s often a requirement. It’s a business transaction in which the audience is expecting you to cough up the goods. EVERY NIGHT. The writer has often written jokes deep into the action of the script. You job is to know what the true nature of the joke is, and bring the funny. Now. In this workshop we explore physical comedy, slapstick and clown-based humour, as well as the beginnings of comic improv and sketches.
